Arlington,
There is something about a good slice of pie that slows people down in the best way. Around here, we are lucky, Arlington has quietly built a pie scene that rivals anywhere in the DMV, and it is spread across some of our favorite corners of the county. Here are five spots worth the drive, the wait, and the extra slice for the road.
Founded in 2011 by two longtime Arlingtonians, Wendy MacCallum and Heather Sheire, this small-batch bakery has become a neighborhood institution, and this year it earned some national attention: Livin' the Pie Life was just nominated for Newsweek's "America's Best Pie 2026." Everything is made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients, from the flaky crusts to the seasonal fillings. Sweet, savory, or somewhere in between, this is Arlington pie royalty.

Founded by veteran pastry chef Sol Schott, Acme is dedicated purely to the craft of pie, and it shows. Everything is made from scratch with local, seasonal ingredients, and the buttery crusts hold their own against classics like Sour Cream Apple and Key Lime, plus savory options and breakfast biscuit sandwiches for the early risers. Tucked into Arlington's historic Penrose neighborhood, it is a small shop with an outsized reputation.
Location: 2803 Columbia Pike, Arlington, VA 22204 | (703) 647-9548
Bakeshop has made a name for itself with modern, playful spins on pie, most notably its cult-favorite handheld cream pies like the Gingersnap Cream Pie. It is also one of the best spots in the area for vegan pie, so no one at the table gets left out. Cozy, hip, and unmistakably Clarendon.
Location: 1025 N Fillmore St, Arlington, VA 22201 | (571) 970-6460
Operating since 1975, Heidelberg brings old-world German baking traditions to the Arlington pie scene, and it remains one of the most beloved bakeries in the county. Alongside classic deep-dish apple and cream pies, you will find traditional Linzer Tortes and Bavarian fruit flans that you will not find anywhere else nearby. A true neighborhood classic, run by the same family for decades.
Location: 2150 N Culpeper St, Arlington, VA 22207 | (703) 527-8394
Chef David Guas brought a taste of New Orleans to Courthouse, and his scratch-baked Southern Pecan Pie has become local legend, made with a moist, cream-based filling and toasted pecans in a hand-crimped crust. Stop by on a Saturday morning and you can pair your slice with the Courthouse Farmers Market happening right outside the door.
Location: 1515 N Courthouse Rd, Arlington, VA 22201 | (703) 243-2410
What Great Pie Says About a Neighborhood
A bakery that has been perfecting its craft since 1975, a shop earning national recognition this year, a chef bringing Southern tradition to Courthouse, these are not accidents. They are the product of neighbors investing in their communities, year after year, slice after slice. That is the kind of staying power that makes a place worth putting down roots in.
We are proud to support these small businesses, they are part of what makes Arlington feel like home. If you are already a regular at one of these spots, you know exactly what we mean. If you are just discovering them, welcome to the neighborhood.
