Geva & Jane Charitable Giving Report 2020

Each year, Geva & Jane Real Estate has supported worthy local causes through our Closing for a Cause initiative.  In 2020, it felt more important than ever to support and give back to the community through charitable giving as we grappled with so many challenges throughout the difficult year.

Here are the charities we supported in 2020:

Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) : $2,900
A community-based non-profit that provides supplemental groceries to Arlington neighbors in need.  We also collected food donations at our community events.  We have chosen AFAC as our focus for donations in 2021.

Virginia Hospital Center: $2,000
We were so happy to participate in Feeding the Frontlines last spring where Geva & Jane bought food from local restaurants and delivered it to VHC to help our vital frontline workers.

Doorways For Women And Families : $900
Doorways for Women and Families creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault leading to safe, stable and empowered lives.

Oakridge Elementary School : $500
In their Hope for the Holidays program, children and parents raised money to buy grocery gift cards for struggling families in the community.  They were able to raise over $8,000 to distribute to those in need.

Northern Virginia Alliance League (NVAL) : $500
The Northern Virginia Alliance League (NVAL) is a group of forty-two women dedicated to aiding various charities within the community with financial support achieved through their fundraising activities. In 2020, they supported La Cocina VA, a charity that uses the power of food to create socioeconomic change in low-income communities.

DC Children’s National Hospital : $400
The Children’s National Health System mission is to excel in Care, Advocacy, Research and Education.  In 2020, having a child with an illness, an already difficult situation, was made much worse by the restrictions of the pandemic.  We were happy to support their efforts to help children and keep the community healthy and safe.

Melwood: $250Melwood is a dynamic nonprofit providing jobs and opportunities for people of differing abilities. In 2020 they donated thousands of vegetable and flowering plants grown by people of differing abilities to DC area hospitals, food pantries, group homes and nursing homes.

Clarendon United Methodist Church (CUMC): $200
CUMC is dedicated to serving the Arlington community. They support many other charitable organizations, like AFAC, Rise Against Hunger, Meals on Wheels, Wings of Caring, Bridges to Independence and Doorways for Women.  Geva & Jane were happy to join them in their goals during the difficulties of 2020.

Computer Core :$200
Computer Core’s mission is to teach low-income adults the technological and life skills needed to pursue their career aspirations. With many losing their jobs in 2020, their mission was more important than ever.

S.L.O.T.H Sean’s Last Opportunity To Help: $100A non-profit organization benefiting active and retired military with PTSD, depression and suicide prevention.  In troubled times, despair and hopelessness rise. Geva & Jane are glad for the opportunity to support SLOTH in lifting those in need of help.
